County Jobs

County jobs are present for a wide range of occupations and industries. There are different requirements and working conditions that exist for each occupation. 40 hour work weeks in traditional office environments may be standard for some occupations but other careers may require late nights and even working weekends.

The minimum training and educational requirements for county employment vary by the position but generally most professional positions will require at least a bachelor's degree in a related field from a college or university. A bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, finance, or a related field for many positions would be acceptable. A high school diploma, related experience, or passing a civil service exam may only be necessary for some positions.

County listings for careers with local governments are expected to remain consistent according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics through 2006 to 2016. A rapidly growing industry will be public safety and health services because of the increase in population and the delegation of duties that were handled by the Federal government, will be handled locally. Despite the occurrence of budget cuts the overall job growth for city jobs are expected to be good. Additional opportunities for county jobs will be from workers that decide to transfer to different careers or that leave the work force entirely.
